In 2025, the UK saw over 300 earthquakes, with one almost daily, as per seismologist Brian Baptie. The majority occurred in areas like Perthshire, the western Highlands, southern Wales, and Yorkshire. Scotland was particularly active, experiencing a 3.7 and a 3.6 magnitude tremor near Loch Lyon. Although seismic activity is lower in north-east Scotland, parts of England and Wales faced significant tremors, with monitoring stations across the UK detecting and studying these occurrences.
