More than 1,000 migrants cross Channel in a day

Over 1,100 migrants crossed the English Channel in small boats on Saturday, marking the highest single-day total in 2025 so far. The annual migrant arrival total has reached 14,811, up 42% from last year, with concerns raised about border control. Defence Secretary John Healey emphasized the need to work with French authorities to intercept smugglers and prevent dangerous crossings.
