Men arrested after village Christmas tree cut down

Two men have been arrested for cutting down a village Christmas tree in Shotton Colliery, Durham, just hours after its lights were turned on. The incident occurred between 10:00 and 11:00 GMT on Wednesday. One man, aged 26, is facing criminal damage charges, while a 23-year-old has been released pending investigation by Peterlee Neighbourhood Police Team.
