Lockerbie: 37 years on from atrocity, volunteers recall vital role

Volunteers from the Radio Amateurs' Emergency Network (Raynet) played a vital role in the aftermath of the Lockerbie bombing in 1988. Ross, Anne, Tom, and William were among the young enthusiasts who provided essential radio communications during the search and rescue operations after Pan Am 103 exploded over the Scottish town. Their efforts were crucial in coordinating and supporting emergency services, demonstrating the pivotal role of volunteers during major disasters like the Lockerbie bombing.Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston has recognized the important contribution of Raynet volunteers, highlighting their expertise in facilitating communication between emergency services during the tragic event.
