The last surviving WW2 Victoria Cross recipient, John Cruickshank, has passed away at the age of 105. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery in air action during the conflict by attacking a German U-Boat in June 1944. Cruickshank suffered 72 injuries during the mission, but successfully destroyed the submarine, becoming the last of 181 people to receive the prestigious military honour for their actions during the war.
