Knee-replacement implant used on thousands of NHS patients was known to be faulty for years

The BBC has discovered that a faulty knee implant, the NexGen, used in NHS surgeries, was known to have high failure rates years before being withdrawn. Patients like Debbie Booker and "Diana" faced mobility issues, pain, and addiction due to the implant slipping out of place. Despite concerns raised as early as 2014, Zimmer Biomet, the manufacturer, only recalled the implant in 2022, impacting thousands of patients and potentially costing millions in corrective surgeries.
