I was wrongly accused of felling the Sycamore Gap tree
Walter Renwick was wrongly accused of felling the world-famous Sycamore Gap tree near Hadrian's Wall. Despite being evicted from Plankey Mill Farm and facing intense scrutiny, he was cleared of the crime after a teenager, initially suspected, was also released without charge. Two men from Cumbria, Daniel Graham and Adam Carruthers, were later convicted of the criminal damage, ending the ordeal for Renwick, who faced false accusations and online abuse.
