How could assisted dying laws change?

MPs are set to determine the potential legalization of assisted dying in England and Wales as the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill returns for its final stage in the House of Commons. The bill, introduced by Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, would allow terminally ill individuals over 18, with mental capacity, and expected to die within six months, to end their life under certain requirements. The bill has undergone revisions, including the setup of a three-person panel to oversee applications and specifying restrictions to ensure patient choice and prevent coercion. Separately, Scotland is also considering similar legislation.
