Hollywood's SAG Awards announces it will change its name

The Screen Actors Guild Awards, colloquially known as the SAG Awards, will now be rebranded as the Actor Awards presented by Sag-Aftra, as announced during a recent board meeting. The change aims to better convey the focus of the ceremony on honoring actors and provide global audiences with a clearer understanding of the event. This move aligns with the merger of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (Aftra) in 2012, representing about 160,000 members in the US entertainment industry.
