Government pledges £900m for sports events & facilities

The government is investing £900m in major sporting events and grassroots facilities in the UK, including Euro 2028, the European Athletics Championships, and the Tour de France Grand Departs. The Department of Culture, Media and Sport is also working on a bid to host the women's football World Cup in 2035. This funding aims to drive economic growth, showcase the UK on a global stage, and support the development of future sporting heroes nationwide.
