Duke of Marlborough accused of strangling estranged wife

The Duke of Marlborough, Charles James Spencer-Churchill, is accused of strangling his estranged wife, Edla Marlborough, on three occasions between November 2022 and May 2024. Charged with three counts of non-fatal intentional strangulation, the 70-year-old aristocrat, who inherited his dukedom in 2014, was arrested on May 13, 2024. The alleged attacks took place in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. The case has been adjourned, with a plea hearing set for January 5 at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court.
