Chief exec of miscarriage of justice body quits after criticism
Karen Kneller resigns as chief executive of the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) following criticism over the handling of miscarriage of justice cases. Ms. Kneller stepped down after 12 years in her role, amidst scrutiny over the CCRC's failure in the case of Andrew Malkinson, who spent 17 years wrongfully imprisoned. The resignation comes after the Justice Select Committee criticized the CCRC for its "inability to learn from its mistakes" under Ms. Kneller's leadership. Dame Vera Baird, the new CCRC chair, aims to rebuild public trust in the organization.
