Chelsea to pay £5m Sancho penalty to Man Utd & are keen on Maignan

Chelsea decides not to sign winger Jadon Sancho permanently, opting to pay £5m penalty to return him to Manchester United. The Blues are now showing interest in acquiring France goalkeeper Mike Maignan from AC Milan. Sancho had been on loan at Stamford Bridge following issues with former United manager Erik ten Hag. United is content with Sancho departing after his £73m signing in 2021, as Chelsea did not pay a loan fee and covered only half of his £300,000-a-week wages.
