British woman who is world's oldest living person turns 116

Ethel Caterham, the world's oldest living person at 116, received a card from King Charles III marking her 115th birthday in 2024. Born in 1909, she is the last surviving subject of Edward VII and became the oldest person in April after the death of Brazilian nun Sister Inah Canbarro Lucas. Mrs. Caterham, living in a care home in Surrey, has lived through historic events like the Titanic disaster and two world wars, having worked as an au pair in India and lived in Hong Kong and Gibraltar with her husband.
