A narrowboat called the Pacemaker was rescued after being stranded on the edge of a collapsed canal in Shropshire. The Canal and River Trust used a special winch operation to move the boat to safety, with plans to re-float it in the new year. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the canal collapse, with repairs expected to be costly and time-consuming. The Canal and River Trust reassured the community and boating industry that navigation along the affected areas would be restored soon.
