Bilbao's Alvarez fails drugs test for alopecia medicine

Athletic Bilbao's defender Yeray Alvarez has been provisionally suspended for unintentionally using a banned substance while being treated for alopecia. The 30-year-old Spaniard failed a doping test after a match against Manchester United in May. Alvarez, who has battled testicular cancer, expressed disbelief over the situation and is working with the club on his defense. Uefa will refrain from commenting until a final disciplinary decision is reached.
