Hashem Abedi, convicted in the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, allegedly used makeshift knives in an attack on prison officers at HMP Frankland. The prosecutor claims Abedi shouted "Allahu akbar" during the assault, which led to three counts of attempted murder and other charges. Abedi, serving a life sentence, appeared in court wearing a grey tracksuit and has been remanded in custody until his next court date in October. The incident left prison officers hospitalized with stab wounds and burns, in what has been described as an unprovoked terrorist-motivated attack.
