Alan Bates to get multi-million-pound payout over Post Office scandal

Alan Bates, a prominent figure in the Post Office scandal compensation fight, is set to receive a multi-million-pound payout after years of campaigning for justice. Between 1999 and 2015, over 900 sub-postmasters were wrongly prosecuted due to inaccuracies in the Horizon IT system. Bates' advocacy led to a landmark legal action by a group of 555 sub-postmasters, resulting in a total of £1.23 billion awarded to more than 9,100 victims.
