92-year-old man sentenced to life in prison for 1967 murder and rape
A 92-year-old man, Ryland Headley, has been jailed for life for the rape and murder of widow Louisa Dunne in the oldest cold case in the UK, dating back to 1967. The attack on the vulnerable victim was asphyxiation due to strangulation and pressure on her mouth. Headley, who had shown no remorse, will spend a minimum of 20 years in prison, as ruled by the Bristol Crown Court, bringing justice to a case that took 58 years to solve, thanks to the diligent work of Avon and Somerset Police.
