Deepfake 'nudify' site fined £55,000 over lack of age checks

Itai Tech Ltd, operator of a controversial "nudify" site, has been fined £55,000 by Ofcom for not implementing age verification measures required by online safety laws. The company's AI tools allow users to alter images to simulate nudity. Despite making its site inaccessible to UK users and attempting to strike itself off the UK register, Itai Tech Ltd was still fined for its lack of age checks. Ofcom emphasized the importance of age assurance to protect children and warned of strict enforcement for non-compliance with the Online Safety Act.
