Chinese EV giant BYD sees UK sales soar by 880%

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD experiences an 880% surge in UK sales in September, making the UK its largest market outside of China. BYD attributes its success to the absence of tariffs on Chinese EVs in the UK, compared to other major markets like the European Union and the US. The company sold 11,271 cars in the UK last month, with the plug-in hybrid version of its Seal U SUV leading the sales. BYD plans to introduce more hybrid and electric models in the UK, following a record high in EV sales in the country as reported by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
