Plans have been unveiled for a "world-first" project to grow fruit and vegetables in greenhouses above a landfill in Wiltshire. The project aims to use cleaned carbon dioxide and heat from the landfill to produce food like avocados, not commonly grown in the UK. The company behind the initiative, Crapper & Sons Ltd, is awaiting planning permission and aims to supply fresh produce to local towns, reduce emissions, food miles, and improve food security.
