Watchdog proposes new rules to increase blocking of scam texts

Ofcom proposes new rules for phone networks to block scam texts, aiming to protect consumers from fraud. These regulations, aimed at closing protection gaps, will involve mobile networks in preventing scammers from reaching potential victims. With the goal to consistently apply proven anti-scam measures, Ofcom expects to make a final decision on the rules by the summer of 2026, following a feedback collection period until January 28th.
