Over 288,000 Northern Ireland pensioners are set to receive the winter fuel payment this year, thanks to a government U-turn on the policy. Communities Minister Gordon Lyons revealed that 86% of pensioners in Northern Ireland will be eligible for the grant, with an income threshold of £35,000 or below.
