NI pensioners could have winter fuel payments restored
Published: 6/9/2025

Northern Ireland pensioners may see their winter fuel payments reinstated due to a government U-turn, benefitting around 250,000 individuals. The majority of pensioners could receive £200, rising to £300 for those over 80. Communities Minister Gordon Lyons calls for clarity on how affected pensioners will receive the benefits cut last year. Additionally, individuals earning over £35,000 will not qualify for the payment.
