How 100-year-old firm went from Hull to Hollywood

Croda International, a company founded in East Yorkshire, celebrates its centenary by reflecting on its role in developing a treatment for adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), as depicted in the Hollywood film "Lorenzo's Oil." Augusto Odone, father of Lorenzo, approached Croda for help, leading to the creation of Lorenzo's oil by chemist Don Suddaby. Today, Croda continues to thrive, producing ingredients for skincare, pharmaceuticals, and more, with a significant healthcare division established in 1997. Though Lorenzo's oil may not help those already afflicted, it remains beneficial for preventing ALD symptoms in vulnerable individuals.
