Call for more employers to pay 'real living wage'
Published: 11/10/2025

Employers in Cornwall are urged to pay the real living wage to combat in-work poverty. Currently, about 300 businesses in Cornwall pay the real living wage to 15,000 employees. While the national living wage is £12.21, campaigners advocate for the real living wage to be £13.45 to cover essential costs and emergencies. Despite challenges for some sectors like tourism and hospitality, paying the real living wage is seen as an investment that can improve employee retention and overall well-being.
